Crackle’s undead army marches on with Dead Rising: Endgame, which is now on course to shuffle onto streaming services come June 20.

News of a release date for the low-budget zombie sequel arrives in tandem with the project’s first official photo, revealing a ragtag group of survivors banding together in East Mission City. Based once again on Capcom’s esteemed undead video game franchise, Dead Rising: Endgame orbits around Jesse Metcalfe’s hardened investigative reporter Chase Carter who, despite being thrust into the midst of an apocalypse, hasn’t lost his appetite for the truth after unearthing a government conspiracy.

Curing the zombie epidemic may be considered top priority, but the military’s scorched earth approach will seemingly result in the death of millions of innocent civilians – an unspeakable act that Carter simply can’t ignore.

This time around, director Pat Williams (Continuum) picks up the mantle from Zach Lipovsky, who worked on the relatively successful Watchtower. Endgame, meanwhile, will be “set in the zombie-infested quarantined zone of East Mission City. Investigative reporter Chase Carter (played by Jesse Metcalfe) must stop a secret government conspiracy which, though seemingly aimed at ending the country’s zombie epidemic, will also kill millions of innocent civilians.”

Dead Rising: Endgame will make a break for Crackle on June 20. It’ll also feature Keegan Connor Tracy as camera operator and producer Jordan Blair, and Dennis Haysbert as General Lyons.
