Friday The 13th: The Game developer Gun Media has released a few new snippets of gameplay for their survival horror funded through Kickstarter, and we have to say, it looks as if its striking the perfect balance between excruciatingly tense and disgustingly gory.

The first video, which you can watch above, gives us a brief glimpse of what the moment to moment gameplay will be like as you do everything you can to avoid the deathly gaze of Jason. Gun Media says that the footage was captured from the counsellor perspective, but lacks any from of HUD or “other elements” due to being in the early stages of development.

What sorts of information any screen furniture will convey to the player remains to be seen, but the absence of any here actually adds to the immersion, so we hope the final version has an option to minimize it in some way.

The second snippet, which is rather more grim, was posted on the game’s official Twitter page. Be warned, it’s probably NSFW.

Gun Media says they’re currently targeting an October release date for Friday The 13th: The Game on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Could this be a surprise hit for the survival horror genre? It certainly has the potential to be.
