Update: EA has officially locked down plans for a Battlefield 5 world premiere on May 6, with the publisher confirming to VideoGamer that the event will offer “insight into the minds of the developers as you hear from the Creative Director Lars Gustavsson and Lead Producer Aleksander Grondal on the past, present and the future of Battlefield. You will be able to join in the conversation as we open the floor to questions from viewers.”

Original Story: Not to be outdone by Activision’s all-but-confirmed Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, EA and DICE are reportedly on the verge of announcing Battlefield 5.

According to Play3.de, both parties have pegged a reveal event for Friday, May 6, when fans will lay eyes on “the future of Battlefield.” Pointing to an online site, the outlet notes that DICE has slated a press event for 8 PM CET, followed by a livestream at 10 PM CET next Friday.

Here’s a description pulled from that website in question: “The future of Battlefield is coming up and you are invited to the world premiere,” it reads. “On May 6, we will reveal the next milestone in the Battlefield franchise. Come and meet our creative team at DICE.”

Rumored to be rooted in a military-style World War I setting, details regarding Battlefield 5 – whatever the official title turns out to be – have began seeping out ever since DICE began pulling development resources from Star Wars Battlefront. Falling into the same camp as Titanfall 2 and Mass Effect Andromeda, EA has confirmed all three sequels will hit the market before April 2017, and given that BioWare’s spacefaring adventure has been nudged into next year, it’s all but certain BF5 will launch in and around the same window as Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare come November.

Battlefield 5 will seemingly step into the limelight on Friday, May 6, when DICE’s sequel is expected to be unveiled for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Check back to We Got This Covered next week when we’ll have full details of said reveal as more information comes to light.
