Now that the Star Trek Beyond fanbase has been placed on red alert in anticipation of the film’s new trailer – said to drop around the middle of next month to align with the franchise’s 50th anniversary – Trekkies have been clamouring for any tidbit relating to Justin Lin’s sci-fi blockbuster ever since.

Well, today we come bearing good news; Chinese website Check has premiered a batch of new images for Beyond, and they find the USS Enterprise crew in peril. From the decked out new ship – said to be called the USS Franklin – to the new uniforms, there’s plenty to pour over in today’s stills, including a behind-the-scenes peek at Lin orchestrating the sequence.

Picking up the mantle from J.J. Abrams, the Fast and Furious stalwart is bringing over his action sensibilities to Star Trek Beyond, with the most recent trailer teeing up a galactic adventure at break-neck speed. In its journey to the silver screen, Simon Pegg has also played an instrumental role in crafting the screenplay, supplanting Roberto Orci late last year.

Pegg also features in today’s batch of images as the loveable Montgomery Scott, rubbing shoulders with a crew that comprises Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, John Cho and Anton Yelchin – and, seemingly, two mysterious, big-name cameos – while Beyond also places Idris Elba in the shoes of towering baddie, Krall, who harbors a deep hatred of the Enterprise crew and everything they represent.

Justin Lin’s Star Trek Beyond has plot course for a release on July 22. Expect the film’s latest trailer to make a beeline onto the interwebs to conicide with the franchise’s 50th anniversary.
