Developer Naughty Dog has outlined plans to roll out free multiplayer content for the imminent Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End all the way through until spring of 2017.
Word comes by way of PlayStation Blog, where the studio’s Lead Game Designer Robert Cogburn touched base on those content plans, how all in-game store items can be unlocked organically through grinding – as well as Uncharted 4‘s microtransaction system – and Naughty Dog’s desire to cultivate a thriving online community.
To begin, Cogburn doubled down on the studio’s ambition to launch DLC that is accessible to everyone, ensuring “that the Uncharted 4 Multiplayer community won’t be fragmented by different types of DLC, and that those who are loyal in participating in the community will be rewarded.
“Our DLC release approach will represent an entirely new direction for Naughty Dog, and we are confident it will have a hugely positive impact and keep the Uncharted 4 Multiplayer community thriving.”
Still no word on what that story DLC will entail, or whether it will adopt a similar tactic to The Last of Us: Left Behind in that it focuses on a plot entirely independent of the core campaign. That and all of the above will, of course, be included in the Uncharted 4 Season Pass.
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End makes shore on May 10, when Naughty Dog’s ultimate chapter in the Nathan Drake saga launches exclusively for PlayStation 4.
