Love it, loathe it, or find yourself falling somewhere in between, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice proved to be a financial hit for Warner Bros. – and The Hollywood Reporter has the numbers to prove it.

Rendering a conclusive verdict on the film’s worldwide box office haul, the outlet revealed that Zack Snyder’s tentpole now stands as the 7th highest-grossing comic book movie of all time when those figures aren’t adjusted for inflation. Nearing the coveted billion dollar club, THR notes that Batman V Superman‘s total stands at $862.9 million at the international box office, with all signs pointing to Snyder’s feature closing out in and around the $875 million ballpark.

Of that grand total, North American tickets represent $325.1 million of the tally, placing Dawn of Justice just behind Spider-Man 3 in the domestic comic book standings.

Here’s an extract from THR’s report, featuring box office guru Jeff Bock:

Still, outside of Christopher Nolan’s two Dark Knight movies, and Tim Burton‘s Batman films when you adjust for inflation, this is the highest-grossing property in DC’s bullpen thus far. It tops Man of Steel by more than $200 million. So yes, BvS successfully relaunched DC’s cinematic universe, but they are nowhere near Disney/Marvel in terms of critical reception and box office prowess. One can only hope that bigger and better is still on the way.

Next on the docket for Warner Bros. brass is Zack Snyder’s two-part Justice League movie, which officially entered production at the beginning of April. Set to bring together Batman and Superman once again, the ensemble will be rounded out by fellow DC heroes Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg. It’s the undisputed event film on Warner and DC’s slate, though cracks have begun to appear in that overarching universe now that Seth Grahame-Smith has bowed out of The Flash solo movie.

Circling back to ground zero, though, tell us, what do you make of the Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice financials?
