Throttle Brings More Disco With Spinnin’ Records Debut “Money Maker”

Can I call it, or can I call it? When Oliver Heldens debuted this track in Montreal two months ago I drew the connection to his "I've Been Waiting" collaborator, Throttle, and the track has turned out to be his debut release on Dutch label Spinnin' Records.

Can I call it, or can I call it? When Oliver Heldens debuted this track in Montreal two months ago I drew the connection to his “I’ve Been Waiting” collaborator, Throttle. Now, the track has turned out to be his debut release on Dutch label Spinnin’ Records.

Don’t let the generic buildup in the first few measures of the track fool you. Between the piano melody, strings section, and soulful vocal samples, “Money Maker isn’t your typical Spinnin’ release, and given what else the monolithic imprint has been putting out lately, that’s definitely a good thing.

Throttle certainly isn’t the only electronic music artist to pay homage to the movement origins though. Even progressive house mainstay Nicky Romero made a foray into disco earlier in the year with “Future Funk,” demonstrating that the style never really died in the first place.

Needless to say, I’m definitely looking forward to more releases from Throttle as festival season unfolds.
