WILL K’s “Hakai” Makes A Strong Case For Big Room House

Big room house is practically a dirty word in 2016, but if more of it sounded like what WILL K turns out that probably wouldn't be the case. The Australian DJ/producer puts a unique and almost world music-inspired spin on the main stage formula as evidenced by his latest track, "Hakai."

Big room house is practically a dirty word in 2016, but if more of it sounded like what WILL K turns out that might not be the case. The Australian DJ/producer takes a unique and almost world music-inspired approach to the main stage formula as evidenced by his latest track, “Hakai.”

The production values evident in “Hakai” (which translates to “destroy” in Japanese) give it a markedly more organic feel than comparable releases. The arrangement scraps the typical buildup-drop scheme in favor of a delightfully nuanced progression, making for a track that hints at the sensibility of more underground house music. In this case, though, WILL K successfully applies it to the kind of electronic music intended to lather the crowd in front of a sold-out festival main stage into frothing motion.

“Hakai” is WILL K‘s debut on the Spinnin’ Records sub-label DOORN Records. If you like what you hear after listening to it in the SoundCloud player above, then make sure you don’t miss his takeover of DOORN Records’ Instagram account tomorrow.
