At this point, it almost feels like tradition to have some sort of rumor pertaining to an impending announcement for Resident Evil 7. Ever since the release of Resident Evil 6 four years ago, every subsequent E3 event since has had murmurs suggesting that Capcom will unveil a sequel on-stage that sees a return to the survival horror roots of the originals.
This year is no different, it seems. Serkan Toto, the CEO of Tokyo-based games industry consultancy Kantan Games published a series of Tweets claiming that Resident Evil 7 will in fact be announced at E3 2016 and, what’s more, will “go back to RE’s horror roots and (essentially) be a clean slate.”
2) They will show it at E3. The RE7 team hired Jordan Amaro, a designer who previously worked on MGS V and P. T. at Kojima Productions. /end

Bold claims indeed. If Capcom truly are aiming to completely reboot the series, then hiring an individual – Jordan Amaro – who worked on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and P.T. wouldn’t be a bad start. The latter game in particular – a teaser for the now-cancelled Silent Hills – is considered by many to be one of the scariest gaming experiences out there.
Assuming this is all true, then the only questions that remain are when, where and who? Capcom doesn’t hold its own conferences like other publishers, and the most recent entries in the franchise have all been multi-platform affairs. The question basically boils down to this. Microsoft or Sony? For now, we’ll have to wait and see.
