Dialling back the adult humor just a smidge, Sony Pictures has today rolled out the Green Band trailer for Sausage Party, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s upcoming R-rated animation.
Teed up like a dark and twisted take on Pixar’s indelible Toy Story, Rogen and Goldberg’s cheeky feature revolves around a tight-knit group of food that want nothing more to be picked up from store shelves and brought home to a state of serene bliss. The truth, however, is much worse, and it’s only when the anthropomorphic edibles are torn out of the packaging that they discover the horrors that await.
Toeing the line between Green Band and full-blown adult humor, today’s snippet for Sausage Party offers an overview of that premise, not to mention the stellar voice cast bringing the food to life. Alongside Rogen in the voice booth are Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, Michael Cera, James Franco, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd, Nick Kroll, David Krumholtz, Edward Norton and Salma Hayek.

Sausage Party, the first R-rated CG animated movie, is about one sausage leading a group of supermarket products on a quest to discover the truth about their existence and what really happens when they become chosen to leave the grocery store.
