After launching on Windows PC back in February, Wales Interactive announced today that Soul Axiom will come to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 next month. The atmospheric adventure will release June 7th on the PS4, with the Xbox version following on June 8th.
Set in the cyber-world of Elysia, Soul Axiom has players exploring a digital depiction of their thoughts and memories. Taking place over the course of six chapters, the title will take you deep into this beautiful, but haunting world as you search for answers about who you really are, and how you ended up here.
Similar to Wales Interactive’s previous release, Master Reboot, Soul Axiom features a unique visual style that includes strong imagery and striking visual flourishes. The title appears to be more than just a pretty face, though, as the studio is promising that the adventure boasts 20 to 30 hours of content, as well as multiple endings based around in-game choices.
In a bit of an odd situation, the game has different purchase bonuses depending on which console you get it on. On the PlayStation 4, Soul Axiom will be available with a 10% launch discount for everyone, and a 25% discount for PS+ members. This brings the price down to $14.99 for one week only. On the Xbox One, however, the game will come with a never-before-seen chapter, as well as a digital version of the 82-page artbook.
While the average Metacritic score has me worried, I was a big enough fan of Master Reboot that I’m willing to give this a shot come June. The team behind the title are experimenting with plot threads and ideas that are unlike anything else out there, and if the puzzle-based gameplay can back it up, we should be in for an interesting ride.
