For his latest single “Do It Right,” dance music producer Martin Solveig enlisted the help of Australian singer Tkay Maidza, delivering a groovy summer anthem complete with catchy pop hooks and an undeniable rhythmic backing.
Eschewing an overly electro-influenced production, Solveig crafts a unique sound palette on “Do It Right,” opening the new track with a steel drum melody accompanied by Maidza’s smooth vocal delivery. The track seems to blend Caribbean influenced tropical music and the offbeat grooves of future house played out on a rhythmic synth horn, resulting in a wholly original sound that balances melody with rhythm.
At a time in dance music where the majority of producers seem happy to rely on inspiration from their contemporaries, Martin Solveig manages to achieve an original sound with “Do It Right,” and the presence of Maidza’s vocals pushes the new tune to its full potential as a song to define summer 2016.
