Martin Garrix Comes Into His Own As A Producer With “Lions In The Wild”

Martin Garrix has kept his fans waiting for new music ever since he announced the launch of STMPD RCRDS back in March, and at long last his first major single has arrived. He first debuted his collaboration with UK duo Third Party during his performance at this year’s Ultra Music Festival, and has now released the monumental track through his brand new imprint.

Even as a music critic who hasn’t universally celebrated what Garrix puts out, I can honestly cite “Lions In The Wild” as evidence that the Dutch superstar is coming into his own as a producer. He hasn’t done away with the barbaric kicks and grandiose synth leads that defined his earlier releases, but his attention to subtleties in the track’s arrangement speak to his evolved conceptual understanding.

Martin Garrix hasn’t made any public statements explaining how he came to work with Third Party, but seeing as how the Londoners haven’t abandoned their main stage-friendly sound to appeal to post-EDM electronic music fans, they make for fitting collaborators.

As he promised last week, Martin Garrix will follow up his new song with “Name Of Love” – although he has yet to announce a release date for the latter track. Until then, it’s safe to expect “Lions In The Wild” to become a festival staple in the weeks to follow.
