R3HAB appears to have been influenced by his recent Felix Snow collaboration, as he’s made something of a creative departure. The Dutch DJ/producer’s caught the chill trap bug, and he’s tried his hands at remixing the Rihanna tracks “Kiss It Better” and “Needed Me” in that style.

Neither remix deviates far outside the parameters of trap music’s more melodic musings. 808 drums and resonant plucks accompany Rihanna’s vocals, with cuts of which pitched up and incorporated into the melody. R3HAB takes no significant risks in the creative process for either track, making for largely unmemorable additions to his already unremarkable releases.

Be that as it may, you can’t fault R3HAB for stepping outside his comfort zone with his remixes of Rihanna’s “Kiss It Better” and “Needed Me.” Perhaps the 2016 festival season will see him hone his newfound style further and appeal to the post-EDM electronic music fans whom have grown bored with the main stage.

We’ll keep an eye out for any further releases from the producer, but for now, check out his remixes below and let us know what you think.
