The casting search for an actress to play Captain Marvel has been a long one, but it appears that it’s coming to an end now that we’ve learnt Brie Larson is in talks for the role. A deal hasn’t been made just yet, but it looks likely that it’ll go through, especially as the actress is receiving support from both fans and several of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s bigwigs.

Speaking at Wizard World Philadelphia this weekend, Captain America: Civil War star Chris Evans, who actually worked with Larson on Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, gave his two cents on her potential casting and how excited he is to see it happen:

“I just heard about that. I really hope that happens! I love Brie Larson. We did a movie together back in ’09, Scott Pilgrim vs The World. I cannot say enough about Brie Larson. I think she’s phenomenal, and I really hope that happens.”

Obviously Evans doesn’t have the final say in the matter, but given how important he is to Marvel it’s definitely nice to hear that he supports Larson in the role. As we mentioned above, fans seem to be behind the idea as well, so it’s very likely that her casting will be made official quite soon. Especially since Captain Marvel will apparently appear in Avengers: Infinity War, which will start shooting later this year.

We expect to hear an official announcement in the coming weeks, but until we do, tell us, are you on board with Brie Larson starring in Captain Marvel?
