FIFA 17 Reveal Trailer Confirms Frostbite Game Engine, September Release Date

In anticipation of a worldwide reveal at E3 next week, EA has rolled out the first teaser for FIFA 17, which is due to drop on September 27 in NA.

Electronic Arts is shaking up the beautiful game as we know it in time for FIFA 17.

For the first time in the evergreen soccer series, this year’s entry will harness the power of EA’s Frostbite engine – one utilized by DICE and the Battlefield franchise – when it launches across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC on September 27 in North America.

Previously, EA Sports’ FIFA franchise was built using the Ignite game engine, and we can surely expect to learn more of the technical switcheroo during the inaugural EA Play event on Sunday, June 12. Reflecting on the changeover, David Rutter, VP and Executive Producer at the studio, teased how the Frostbite game engine can open up new ways for the creative team to iterate on the franchise’s core design pillars.

“Frostbite unlocks a whole new world of possibilities for the FIFA franchise and its fans. We have never been as excited as we are today about the future of football and the experiences we are going to deliver in FIFA 17.”

Those who hold subscriptions to EA Access can expect to get their hands on FIFA 17 first via the Play First Trials. More details will be shared closer to the game’s September release.

FIFA 17 has been slated for release across PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC on September 27 in North America, and September 29 across the globe. Expect the game to be featured at the EA Play event at 1:00pm PST on June 12.
