With principal photography set to kick off in July, Warner Bros. is starting to complete the cast for the upcoming Blade Runner sequel, and today brings news from THR that the studio has thrown Canadian actress Mackenzie Davis into the mix. She’ll join an impressive line-up that already boasts Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Dave Bautista, Ana de Armas and Robin Wright, among others.
Directed by Sicario helmer Denis Villeneuve, the plot of the highly-anticipated sequel is being kept tightly under wraps, though we do know that it takes place several decades after the original. Like with the other casting announcements, Davis’ role is being kept a secret and given that we know next to nothing about the plot, it’s hard to say how big of a part she’ll have here.
Still, joining Blade Runner 2 is a big win for the actress, who has impressed us with her work in TV series Halt and Catch Fire, among other things. She hasn’t caught her big break break just yet, but showing up in a film like this will no doubt give her career a well deserved boost.
As Blade Runner 2 inches closer to production, expect to hear more casting details rolling in. Until they do, however, let us know how you think the sequel is shaping up so far by dropping a comment below.
