Bill Murray Has Nothing But Praise For Ghostbusters Reboot

OG 'Buster Bill Murray claims he was whooping and cheering when the credits rolled on Paul Feig's Ghostbusters reboot.

Sony Pictures currently has all hands at the pump in anticipation of Paul Feig’s ‘Busters and with June 8 standing as Ghostbusters Day and all that, the studio has conjured up a frightful flurry of activity that comprises new posters, spooky featurettes and character spotlights.

But the true moment of fan service came via Jimmy Kimmel Live, with the latest episode uniting Ghostbusters old and new as the original cast from Ivan Reitman’s beloved flicks shared the sofa with Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.

It’s that foursome that will soon be donning the Proton Packs on the streets of NYC, and though there’s been a groundswell of asinine negativity directed at Paul Feig’s reboot since it was first announced, Bill Murray has nothing but praise for the imminent do-over, claiming he and Dan Aykroyd were whopping and cheering by the time the credits rolled.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the fan-favorite showered praise on Sony’s overhaul and its leading ladies in particular.

It was only because I knew these girls were funny. When you see the film, and you’ll delight in the film, it sort of rumbles along in the beginning. And you go ‘Oh God, are they gonna be able to pull this off?’ Believe me, I feel like a stepfather to the whole thing. But there is just no quit in these girls…

This is a tough movie to pull off, because it’s a big concept, there’s a lot on the plate, there’s a lot of expectation. And Danny [Aykroyd] and I and Annie [Potts] and Ernie [Hudson] were just screaming, cheering like we were at a sporting event at the end of it.

Erin Gilbert (Wiig), Abby Yates (McCarthy), Jillian Holtzmann (McKinnon) and Patty Tolan (Jones) will be on the other end of that line when Ghostbusters looms over theaters on July 15.
