Though the mystery of ZHU‘s identity has since been revealed, the Grammy nominated producer is still able to encapsulate dance music fans with his consistently excellent productions and his knack for viral marketing. He’s returned this week to drop a new single titled “Generationwhy,” revealing a youthful summer anthem with a slick sound.
On “Generationwhy,” ZHU brings his signature sound palette to the table, filling the track with rubbery synth plucks, a post-disco backbeat and a swanky falsetto vocal delivery. The “Faded” producer augments the electronic production elements with funky guitar licks and the occasional slap bass stab, pulling together a captivating sound for the new song.
“Generationwhy” will be featured on ZHU‘s debut album, which is presumed to be under the same name and is expected to be released on July 29 via Columbia Records. The new single is available for purchase now, and can be found here.
