Were you disappointed with the lack of new The Last Guardian footage during Sony’s E3 2016 conference? You’re definitely not the only one left wanting to see more of Fumito Ueda’s first game since Shadow Of The Colossus, but hold up – there’s a very good reason as to why Sony didn’t place much focus on the game this year.

President of Sony Computer Entertainment Shuhei Yoshida told German website Gameswelt.TV (via VideoGamer) that he’s confident fans will be happy with the final product when The Last Guardian launches this October, but that he doesn’t want to overexpose people to it prior to the big day in an attempt to avoid spoilers.

No, I’m not worried. I have confidence in the team and Ueda-san’s vision. We are so excited to be able to finally play this game that needed to be out, and lots of people are waiting. I expect people will enjoy when it comes out.

It was always in development, and it took longer, especially when we made the decision to move from PS3 to PS4. Lots of engineering had to be redone from scratch so that was contributed to the length of the project.

But now the team is very excited to be able to show a little bit of the game but we don’t want to spoil the story so we are not going to show too much until the game comes out. But when the game comes out we want people to really enjoy [it].

The Last Guardian launches exclusively for PlayStation 4 on October 25, nine long years after development began on it. Can the whimsical adventure title truly live up to the hype? We’ll find out for sure in just over four months, as long as there’s no delay between now and then. Keep those fingers crossed.
