It’s official: Four years on from the moment it entered development at Hello Games, work on ambitious space sim No Man’s Sky has wrapped up, with the studio’s Sean Murray taking to Twitter to confirm that the new IP has now gone gold.

Considered to be the most-anticipated release of the year by Amazon customers, No Man’s Sky was first unveiled all the way back in December of 2013, touting an entire universe of planets and star systems vying to be explored.

Since then, excitement for the game has at times threatened to consume Hello Games’ budding new IP, and one need only look at the heinous death threats directed at Murray when No Man’s Sky was postponed for a second time in May of this year.

That will no doubt go down as part of the title’s storied development and now, the British studio will ready No Man’s Sky for its international launch.

No Man’s Sky will touch down on PS4 and PC come August 10 in North America.
