Getting ready to send those Monday blues packing. In anticipation of its launch in two weeks’ time, Universal has premiered a trio of ferocious new clips for Jason Bourne teasing Operation Treadstone, new alliances and the much-touted Las Vegas chase sequence.
In the latter, Matt Damon’s wayward agent is seen plowing through a collection of stationary vehicles on the Las Vegas strip. It has all the makings of a grand finale, though considering the action credentials of the Bourne franchise, we wouldn’t be all that surprised if the chase scene was one of a number of pulse-pounding sequences.
Placing its prized series firmly back on track following the middling spinoff that was The Bourne Legacy — no Damon, no party — Universal has assembled a host of newcomers to inject fresh blood into its decorated action tentpole. Chief among them are Tommy Lee Jones as CIA brass Robert Dewey and soon-to-be-Tomb-Raider Alicia Vikander, who plays fresh-faced agent Heather Lee and potential ally to Damon’s Bourne. There are also roles for Vincent Cassel, Julia Stiles and Riz Ahmed.
