Featuring a “good 15 to 17 minutes” of extra footage, director Paul Feig has confirmed that a Ghostbusters extended cut will be included in the film’s eventual DVD release.

Word comes by way of DVD Talk (via The Playlist), where Feig was asked whether any footage from his high-profile reboot was left on the floor of the editing room. No stranger to churning out extended cuts of his movies – the director rolled out alternate versions of Bridesmaids, The Heat and Spy that each ran longer than the theatrical release – Feig noted that the Powers That Be are currently toiling away on said extended cut right now.

“We are literally, as I talk to you, I’m on lunch break from doing our extended cut of the movie. There will be one, and it will be a good 15 to 17 minutes longer than the theatrical feature.”

Bringing together Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones for an all-new and spooky adventure, Sony Pictures is primed to conjure Ghostbusters into theaters on July 15.

Battling off a wave of asinine hate, early reviews (including our own) have revealed that Feig’s modern redo is a lot of fun, even if it’s far from perfect. For more Bustin’ action, check out our exclusive interviews with Paul Feig himself and Kate McKinnon, who plays the part of Jillian.
