2017 is going to be a huge year for superhero movies, with the likes of Spider-Man: Homecoming and Justice League hitting theatres. However, the movie which could very well end up stealing the show is Thor: Ragnarok, a sure to be epic affair which is going to team the God of Thunder up with The Hulk as they’re pitted against Hela (and possibly each other).

With director Taika Waititi (Hunt for the Wilderpeople) at the helm, Thor: Ragnarok definitely feels like it has all the makings of one of the most unique Marvel movies to date, and the filmmaker pointed to that being the case in a recent interview about the highly anticipated Phase 3 release.

“I feel like a guest in Marvel’s universe but with the creative freedom to do what I want. It’s hard to say what the movie is because it’s changing. The plot has changed and the script has changed. There are buddy elements to it between Thor and the Hulk, but who knows what the final movie will look like. I think this is the most different Marvel movie to date and one of the biggest.”

It’s interesting that the script still appears to be changing, though considering the fact that this chat took place before production of Thor: Ragnarok kicked off on Australia’s Gold Coast, chances are that this isn’t something we need to worry about. The buddy elements sound great though, as does the fact that the movie looks set to be one of Marvel’s biggest ever.

After all, with Thor squaring off against Hela and elements of Planet Hulk set to be adapted in some form, Thor: Ragnarok needs to be massive. Expect more details to be revealed as we get closer to the movie’s November 2017 release, and with Comic-Con around the corner, chances are we’ll hear something then, too.
