The Wachowskis Have A New Project With Warner Brothers

According to Twitch Film, the Wachowskis and Warner Brothers will be reuniting for Jupiter Rising. Not much is known about the project aside from the fact that it's a priority for the studio and "is being prepped as quickly as possible," which leads us to believe it's a pretty big deal. According to Twitch Film, the Wachowskis and Warner Brothers will be reuniting for Jupiter Rising. Not much is known about the project aside from the fact that it’s a priority for the studio and “is being prepped as quickly as possible,” which leads us to believe it’s a pretty big deal. In fact, the studio believes that this film will “return the duo to their post-Matrix glory.”

The siblings are currently working with Tom Tykwer on Cloud Atlas, an adaptation of a 2004 novel that consists of six separate and loosely related narratives. The film will reunite the Wachowskis with Hugo Weaving, who portrayed Agent Smith in The Matrix movies.

In addition to Cloud Atlas, they are also trying to start up Hood, a modern take of Robin Hood possibly starring Will Smith. Lastly, there’s Cobalt Neutral 9, a film about the the US occupation of Iraq.

With their busy schedule, we can’t be sure when Jupiter Rising (if that’s even the real title), will head into production. With the amount of faith Warner Bros. has in this project though, it will likely be pretty soon.

Admittedly, the Wachowskis have been keeping pretty quiet ever since Speed Racer and they still haven’t made a film as good as the original Matrix. Could this Jupiter Rising be the film that finally gives them the chance to show moviegoers why they were once considered the future of filmmaking?

It’s too early to tell but we’ll definitely be keeping you updated on this one.
