San Diego Comic-Con is upon us, and as Warner Bros. populates the show floor with a host of life-size models – designed to showcase the alternate costumes for Task Force X – a trio of new Suicide Squad TV spots have been launched onto the interwebs and between them, there’s a fair amount of new footage to digest.

Yes, David Ayer’s anti-hero offshoot is the talk of the town ahead of its arrival on August 5, and when you factor in Warner Bros.’ piecemeal marketing campaign, that’s hardly surprising. Excitement for Suicide Squad has largely remained at a fever-pitch ever since the full-length trailer stormed online, and its small wonder why.

Perhaps it’s because DC fans consider it the perfect tonic after the dark and brooding – and rather underwhelming – Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, or because of the sheer star power that David Ayer and Co. have brought together, or maybe the cult of personality generated by Jared Leto’s devilish Joker. Whatever the case, we’ll finally discover whether the end product is more than the sum of its malevolent parts in a few weeks’ time.

Also starring Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo and Adam Beach as Slipknot, Suicide Squad hits theatres on August 5, 2016.
