San Diego Comic-Con is well underway and the first trailer to come out of the event based on a DC Comics property pertains to that of the much anticipated animated series Justice League Action. One viewing of the footage provided certainly gives the impression that the show’s producers certainly aren’t skimping on the “action” aspect.
Aside from Teen Titans Go!, airwaves have been mostly bereft of new animated content featuring DC heroes ever since Beware The Batman was unfortunately cancelled after only one season. With Zack Snyder’s Justice League arriving in theaters in November 2017, it’s a pretty wise move by Warner Bros. to allow DC’s premiere superhero team to permeate the public’s consciousness through various forms of media far in advance.
This new series not only focuses on the Trinity – Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman – but also brings in a wealth of characters from around the DC Universe, making it rival the likes of Justice League Unlimited and Batman: The Brave and the Bold when it comes to using as many toys in the box, so to speak.
It’s quite obvious that WB Animation is catering to the younger crowd with this series and there’s certainly nothing wrong with that. A healthy dose of humor has been injected, causing some fans to worry if this show will be as silly as the aforementioned Teen Titans Go! While that is a legitimate concern, I hope that the eleven-minute runtime of each episode (it’s probably safe to expect two in a half hour block) allows for enough storytelling to balance out the action.
