Some of the biggest TV news to come out of San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend was the confirmation that Marvel’s Agents of  S.H.I.E.L.D. would see the debut of the Robbie Reyes incarnation of Ghost Rider, and now that things have died down a little, the second major casting addition has been announced.

Deadline reports that actress/director Lilli Birdsell (Geek Charming, NCIS: LA, How To Get Away With Murder) will recur on season 4 as a character named Lucy. We don’t know exactly how she’ll factor into the story, but the trade does provide a few more intriguing details.

A beautiful woman with a haunting quality, [Lucy] has a very violent streak in her inner self, because of things that have happened.

From the sounds of that, this Lucy gal will definitely have some kind of superpowers – but is she an established Marvel Comics character? There’s the possibility that she’s Runaways member Karolina Dean, who is also known as Lucy in The Sky, but that’s probably a stretch.

For now, we’ll just have to wait until the fourth season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. kicks of on September 20th to find out more.
