Robert Kirkman Says His Plan For The Walking Dead’s Ending Has Changed

The Walking Dead TV series has taken a lot of liberties with the source material in recent years, but for the most part, they both seem to be following the same basic blueprint. That's evident from what's currently happening with Negan, but comments from creator Robert Kirkman at Comic-Con this past weekend may point to an upcoming shake-up of sorts.

The Walking Dead TV series has taken a lot of liberties with the source material in recent years, but for the most part, they both seem to be following the same basic blueprint. That’s evident from what’s currently happening with Negan, but comments from creator Robert Kirkman at Comic-Con this past weekend may point to an upcoming shake-up of sorts.

The comic book scribe (who also serves as a producer on the show) revealed that his plans for how The Walking Dead will end have recently changed, and that’s bound to impact the TV series.

“The end has changed. There was one version that would have had it ending as soon as everybody reached Alexandria.”

Neither The Walking Dead comic or series show any signs of slowing down in terms of popularity, so which ends first remains to be seen. Will the comic book continue on for years before reaching a different conclusion? Or, like Game of Thrones, is the TV show going to spoil how Kirkman plans to end the story of Rick Grimes?

For now, we’ll just have to wait and see. Star Andrew Lincoln did mention at the event that there’s been talk of wrapping both up at the same time, but that could prove to be something of a logistical nightmare for Kirkman.
