Bethesda Still Working To Bring Fallout 4 Mods To PlayStation 4; Process Is ‘Under Evaluation’

Its been a while now since Bethesda last provided an update on the state of mods for the PlayStation 4 version of Fallout 4, but it appears as if owners of Sony's console still have a bit of a wait ahead of them before they finally arrive. As per a Tweet posted yesterday on the official Fallout page, Bethesda said that they're still working with Sony to get the situation resolved, but still isn't ready to give a firm release date.

Its been a while now since Bethesda last provided an update on the state of mods for the PlayStation 4 version of Fallout 4, but it appears as if owners of Sony’s console still have a bit of a wait ahead of them before they finally arrive. As per a Tweet posted yesterday on the official Fallout page, Bethesda said that they’re still working with Sony to get the situation resolved, but still isn’t ready to give a firm release date.

It’s not exactly clear what’s causing the hold-up, but the original delay announcement detailed three key issues that were stopping the update from going ahead.

KNOWN ISSUES WITH PS4 MODS

  • PC textures are used. Memory and performance issues may occur. We are working with Sony on optimal texture exporting support in a future update.
  • Sound files are currently not supported. PS4 sound format is a proprietary format. We are working with Sony on sound file processing support in a future update.
  • PS4 Mod Storage limit is approximately 900 MB at present. Please do not upload mods larger than 900 MB. We are working with Sony to increase this limit.

PS4 owners will undoubtedly be disappointed by the news, but at least there’s some first-party DLC to keep your hunger satiated until mods do emerge. Along with the huge Far Harbor expansion, the smaller Wasteland and Vault-Tec Workshop add-ons are sure to tide you over for the foreseeable future.
