Vin Diesel Offers Up A New Look At Helen Mirren In Fast 8

After joking that she’d like a role alongside Vin Diesel in the Fast and Furious franchise, Helen Mirren ended up joining the cast of the highly anticipated Fast 8 earlier this year. The fact that Charlize Theron was chosen to play the villain was surprising enough, but Mirren taking on a role came as an even bigger shock despite her earlier comments.

The Oscar-winning actress has already confirmed that she won’t be getting behind the wheel in Fast 8, and mentioned at the time that she’d only be on set for the one day. If Mirren is indeed shooting for such a short period of time, then this is clearly going to be little more than a cameo appearance. Still, even if that’s the case, it’ll be interesting to see whether or not her scenes set up a larger role in the next Fast and Furious movie.

After all, who knows, she could very well be in the after-credits scene like Jason Statham was a few installments back, when he was set up as the new big bad. If that’s the case, Diesel has now spoiled the surprise by posting an image of him and Mirren shooting a scene together via his Instagram account. It doesn’t shed much light on her role, but it may just reveal that Mirren’s only scene will be with the actor she said she hoped to work with.

Fast 8 is set to be released on April 14th, 2017.

Such a joy and an honor working with Helen Miren… Happy Toretto Tursday!
