Singer-cum-actress Zoe Kravitz has joined Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them as a last-minute addition to David Yates’ ensemble cast, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Set 70 years before the arrival of the Boy Who Lived, we understand that Kravitz has nabbed a relatively minor role in the fantastical offshoot, with plans in place for her as-yet-undisclosed character to feature heavily in the confirmed 2018 sequel, as Warner Bros. begins to enforce its masterplan for a Fantastic Beasts trilogy.

Whisking moviegoers off to New York City and the Roaring ’20s, Kravitz now joins a cast that comprises Eddie Redmayne, Gemma Chan, Carmen Ejogo, Jon Voight, Katherine Waterston, Ezra Miller, Colin Farrell and Ron Perlman. Following up on its San Diego Comic-Con showcase, Yates’ film is now simmering in post-production.

An integral part of the team behind this new spinoff series is, of course, author J.K. Rowling, who made her screenwriting debut with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Indeed, the celebrated novelist has already contributed to the sequel script with David Yates, and is part of Warner’s team of producers that includes David Heyman, Steve Kloves, Lionel Wigram, Neil Blair, Rick Senat and Danny Cohen.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them bows on November 18, 2016.
