Jonah Hill Doesn’t Think The Jump Street/Men In Black Crossover Is Still Happening

Remember MIB 23, that weird but also awesome sounding crossover movie between 21 Jump Street and Men In Black that Sony was planning? Well, it looks like it isn’t happening anymore. Or at least, that’s according to Jonah Hill, who recently told THR that the intriguing project probably won’t materialize.

This is definitely a little bit surprising, as the studio was apparently in talks with James Bobin to direct and Jump Street helmers Phil Lord and Chris Miller were signed onto produce. Shooting was even set to begin later this year. We’re not sure what went wrong, but as Hill tells The Hollywood Reporter, he doubts that it’s ever going to get made.

“I had the idea, but I doubt that movie will ever get made. They’re trying to make all the deals, but it’s kind of impossible with all the Men in Black stuff. The Jump Street films were so fun to make and the whole joke of them was they were making fun of remakes and sequels and reboots and then now it’s become a giant sequel, reboot. It’s almost become what we were making fun of and it’s hard to maintain that joke when it’s so high stakes.”

The studio hasn’t officially greenlit or cancelled MIB 23 just yet, so for now, it remains in development limbo. If we’re to believe Hill, though, things aren’t looking too good. What he says does make sense, but we’d be lying if we said we still weren’t excited at the prospect of seeing these two franchises crossover.

Whether this ends up going ahead or not, we’re at least hopeful that at some point, we’ll get another proper sequel to 22 Jump Street. After all, given how that film ended, it would be very surprising if we don’t see Jenko and Schmidt return for duty somewhere down the road.

Tell us, are you upset that this crossover appears to be cancelled? Or were you never on board with it in the first place?
