In cooking up a filthy R-rated animation – one that came within touching distance of landing a NC-17 rating – co-directors Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan assembled a who’s who of Hollywood talent for Sausage Party.

Among the ensemble were Seth Rogen – who helped rustle up the initial pitch with writing partner Evan Goldberg – Jonah Hill, Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, Michael Cera, James Franco, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd, Nick Kroll, David Krumholtz, Edward Norton, Salma Hayek and Anders Holm. But according to a new report by /Film, famed hip-hop artist Sean Combs (AKA P. Diddy) was once cordially invited to the food-related shenanigans.

Then attached to a cameo role that involved a bottle of Courvoisier, the report goes on to reveal that Combs’ reasoning for backing out of Sausage Party was rather simple: he didn’t want to be involved due to the fact that the film was animated. Which really begs the question, did Combs’ expect a live-action version wherein Rogen and Co. would be prancing around a studio set in costume?

Whatever the case, Sausage Party is out now in theaters and it’s a riot.

Tell us, would you have liked to see P. Diddy among the starry ensemble for Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan’s cheeky animation? Or better yet, a live-action rendition of Sausage Party?! Let us know below.

After warning his pals about their similar fate, the panicked perishables devise a plan to escape from their human enemies.
