In the three years since Daft Punk dropped their most recent album, Random Access Memories to great acclaim, fans have been relatively left in the dark waiting for the iconic robo duo to release some new music. Now, we have our first clue about their future efforts as it comes to light that they have an upcoming collaboration with The Weeknd.
Wendy Goldstein, executive VP and head of Urban A&R with Republic Records, inadvertently broke the news during an interview with Billboard when fielding the question of who she would be most excited to work with. She then revealed that the three artists are scheduled to hit the studio together in the very near future.
Well actually, we have a session coming up in two days that Ron set up with The Weeknd and Daft Punk. I’ve always been a massive Daft Punk fan so this is the first time that I’m actually involved with an artist who will work with them.
The Weeknd had previously taken to Facebook to post an image of some Daft Punk action figures sitting on a speaker, around the same time that news got out about his upcoming collab with Cashmere Cat, so we kind of already expected this – though it’s certainly great to hear.
It’s still too early for a release date for the track in question at this point, but dance music fans should definitely be excited over this one.
