Upon his return, he’s reunited with his ne’er do well brother (Sharlto Copley) and ineffectual father (Richard Jenkins), as old family issues bubble to the surface. John also has to come to grips with the fact he will be a father soon himself, as he and his girlfriend (Anna Kendrick) are expecting a baby.

The Hollars certainly doesn’t rewrite hometown drama, but Krasinski’s bright directorial personality is enough to avoid a generic, forgettable fate.

Last week in Los Angeles during the press day for The Hollars, we sat down for an exclusive interview with Krasinski to talk about why he wanted to direct the film, the most daunting part of making it and why he was so excited to have Margo Martindale in the cast.
