Spoilers and rumours about the Marvel Cinematic Universe hitting sites liked Reddit and 4Chan has become a weekly occurrence, and despite the fact that they’re almost always inaccurate, many fans are still sucked in by them. The latest “leak” covers everything from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 to Doctor Strange, and James Gunn isn’t happy about it.

In particular, they detail a supposed romantic subplot between Star-Lord and Gamora as well as the way the movie leads directly into Avengers: Infinity War, but the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 helmer quickly took to Twitter to discount these claims when asked about them by a fan:

“The Guardians stuff is truly made-up bullshit other than stuff taken from things I’ve said & a half-lucky guess or 2.”

Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson did the same thing, too, despite the post stating that the movie has been receiving very positive reviews at test screenings:

“A pretty good rule of thumb regarding Marvel news reports: if the news isn’t directly from Marvel, it’s inaccurate.”

There’s still a long time to go until Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is released next May, so more rumours like this surfacing is no doubt inevitable. Gunn has since said that he won’t comment on speculation anymore, and now that shooting has wrapped, we’re probably better off just waiting for the first trailer to be released a little later this year for the first solid details about the movie to arise.

It will likely arrive with Doctor Strange in November, so there’s not too much longer to wait now. In the meantime, tell us, what are you most looking forward to seeing in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2?
