The Halsey driven collaboration “Closer” has truly pushed The Chainsmokers to the next level. While previous singles like “Roses” and ‘Don’t Let Me Down” brought some major recognition to the dance music duo, their latest effort has had an explosive impact on their career, garnering them their first number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100. Now, the three musicians are preparing to unleash “Closer” at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The Chainsmokers and Halsey will join a star studded cast of performers to drop their latest effort at the VMA’s On Sunday, August 28, in what will be one of their biggest shows to date, as other talent scheduled to perform at the event include Britney Spears, Rihanna and Ariana Grande.

The Chainsmokers have already tested out their newest hit on the live front, joining Halsey on stage for a rendition of their song during her recent show at Madison Square Garden earlier in the month. Based on that performance, it’s safe to say the VMA crowds are in for a treat.
