Breaking Bad star Giancarlo Esposito has been flirting with Marvel for a while now, and has actually spoken to their TV division about an unknown role. However, while he’s keen to work with the studio, the actor is hesitant to do so given that his character wouldn’t be able to show up on the big screen.

In a recent interview, Esposito expressed his concern over this fact, which is something that numerous others have pointed out as well:

“I know the Marvel world exists on the Disney lot. I love those guys at Marvel,” he says.”We’ve been trying to figure out how to collaborate on something. I’m hoping that it is something. They came to me with something for their television department, then I realized if I did that, I’d never be able to have that same character be in that film department. Once you’re in a Marvel character in the television version, you have to stay in the particular character. They can’t carry that over to film.”

While Esposito is mostly correct in what he’s saying, it’s not like we’ve never had a Marvel character show up on both television and in a movie. We’ve seen it happen with Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury and Clark Gregg’s Phil Coulson, among a few others. However, aside from Coulson, none of them have ever had much screen time afforded to them when they’ve crossed over to the other medium.

From the sounds of it, it seems like Esposito would want to work with Marvel only on the condition that his character could be featured prominently on both film and television, which is a fair request. There’s no word on which role he had been meeting with the studio for, but we do hope that they can work something out, as he’s a talented actor who would fit quite well into one of Marvel’s properties.

We’ll keep you posted if anything further on this story develops, but for now, tell us, who would you like to see Giancarlo Esposito play if he were to get into bed with Marvel?
