A couple of months ago, Anna Kendrick was asked which superhero she’d most like to play during an interview and answered Squirrel Girl. Now, while this hardly seemed like much to get excited about at the time, the internet went nuts over the idea of the popular actress inhabiting the role of Doreen Green – with even the likes of Edgar Wright and The Russo Bros offering their endorsements.

While there hasn’t been any chatter about a movie just yet, it looks like the hype wasn’t lost on Marvel, as TV Line is reporting that a New Warriors TV show is in the works at ABC, and Squirrel Girl is set to feature on the team. There aren’t a whole lot of details about it at the moment, but apparently it’s being shopped around various cable and streaming outlets as a half-hour, single-camera comedy series.

As Marvel Comics fans will no doubt be aware, Squirrel Girl is not actually a member of The New Warriors, only appearing on the roster in one episode of the Ultimate Spider-Man animated series. The actual characters that make up the team include the likes of Marvel Boy, Nova, Speedball, Firestar, Hummingbird, and Scarlet Spider – though obviously there’s no way of knowing which ones will be utilized for the show.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated if anymore info on this comes our way, but for now, let us know what you think about the idea of a Squirrel Girl-led TV series in the comments section below.
