Super Mario Maker and Yoshi’s Woolly World are making the jump from Wii U to 3DS on December 2 and February 2017 respectively, Nintendo has announced.
Revealed during today’s Nintendo Direct presentation, both titles will make the transition from home console to handheld largely untouched, although there are a few important differences that you’ll want to know about.
Super Mario Maker on 3DS, which became a hit when it landed on Wii U last year, will offer the same opportunities for creating and sharing levels, including the easily accessible creation suite. However, there’s one big key change that’s likely going to be a deal breaker for many. Unlike the Wii U version, which allows players to upload their own levels online for the world to enjoy, the 3DS iteration will only allow you do so over Wi-Fi.
As for Yoshi’s Woolly World, it’s undergoing a name change for 3DS and will be released under the name Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World on February 3. Why the rebranding? Well, lovable mutt Poochy is being implemented as a playable character for this version, and there’s even an amiibo for the character being released, too.
Speaking of amiibo, a whole new batch of the collectable figures were revealed during the Nintendo Direct stream, including some swanky Zelda-themed ones.
