Is British Dame Angela Lansbury Westeros Bound For Game Of Thrones Season 7?

British Dame Angela Lansbury is reportedly bound for the fantastical realm of Westeros ahead of Game of Thrones season 7.

That’s according to German website Bild, reporting that the Murder She Wrote star holds a role in two of the upcoming seven episodes that are slated to premiere in the summer of 2017. HBO didn’t comment on the speculation at the time of going to press, but we do know the network is actively casting for new additions, having recently plucked Jim Broadbent – star of Moulin Rouge, Gangs of New York and Eddie the Eagle – for an undisclosed role.

Besides, this wouldn’t be the first time that Game of Thrones has recruited a bona fide acting legend to its ranks. Over the past six seasons, HBO’s fantasy flagship has filled its truly massive ensemble with everyone from Charles Dance to Ian McShane and Dame Diana Rigg to Max Von Sydow. The real question is, and assuming these rumors are on point, how will Lansbury fit into the lineup?

Speculation is already rife that the screen stalwart will hail from the Lannister family tree, possibly on board to cut Cersi down to size as Genna Lannister. There’s no smoke without fire and let’s face it, Cersei torched a fair chunk of King’s Landing in the excellent finale, “The Winds of Winter.”

Heralding one of, if not the bleakest seasons to date, Game of Thrones will return for its penultimate run on the airwaves midway through 2017. It’ll pave the way for an eighth and final season in 2018.
