Green Day’s new album, Revolution Radio, is turning into what could be a highlight of the band’s illustrious 20 year career. Everyone got a taste of what to expect when the band unveiled the lead single, “Bang Bang,” early last month, and now, they’re giving us another dose with the title track, “Revolution Radio.”

What “Bang Bang” did was set the tone for the entire album, and the song itself was a furious breakneck rock number brimming with sweet rebellion. “Revolution Radio” continues this trend, but this time the riff-filled jam takes more of a conventional pop route with an incredibly catchy chorus.

Lyrically, the song demands your attention as frontman and vocalist Billie Joe Armstrong belts lines like, “We are revolution radio / Operation No Control / And the headline: my love’s bulletproof.” “Revolution Radio” will have a lot of ground to make up if it wants to become more successful than “Bang Bang,” as the latter is currently number one Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Songs chart, but we’re feeling optimistic as of now.

Green Day have a message with their new album, and they’ve shown it mightily thus far in these two teaser tracks. The band will be taking the new material out on the road when they embark on their upcoming fall club tour, and dates can be found on their website. Revolution Radio, meanwhile, arrives on October 7th.
