Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has been open in his desire to bolster his presence in the movie industry, even turning his proverbial crosshairs to the as-yet-unannounced sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 as his dream gig. Lobbying for a role is one thing, but there is still much more to be sussed out before the Powers That Be at Marvel arrive at a decision.
And even at that, it’s all hypothetical for now, of course, though James Gunn himself has weighed in on the prospect of one day directing Tyler in Guardians 3. Word comes by way of the filmmaker’s Facebook feed (via TheWrap), where Gunn addressed comments made by the esteemed musician and former American Idol judge regarding the Marvel Cinematic Universe and, potentially, his future role in it.
Per Gunn:
“Yes, I did hear that Steven Tyler wants to be in Guardians of the Galaxy. He gave Guardians of the Galaxy a shout-out the other day in an interview. He said, ‘James Gunn are you listening?’ The answer is: Steven, yes I am listening. And I’m a big fan of Steven Tyler‘s. I had the pleasure of directing his daughter Liv in a movie [Super in 2010] in which she was fantastic, and I met him for a few seconds at a screening of that movie. He’s a cool guy. And of course I would love to work with Steven Tyler sometime.”
No word yet regarding Guardians 3 nor whether James Gunn could possibly extend his MCU streak to three consecutive films. That’s unlikely to change anytime before Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 shoots into theaters, heralding what Chris Pratt believes to be the “biggest spectacle movie of all time.” Bold words, though we’ll find out if the carry any weight when Gunn’s follow-up arrives on May 5, 2017.
