Fall Out Boy Premiere Short Art Film “Bloom”

Fall Out Boy may be one of the biggest rock bands around, but they aren’t just one of the biggest rock bands around. They’re creative as well and they think outside the box. And maybe that’s part of the reason why they’re still so successful today. Though they’re great at churning out the hits, they’re also pretty darn great at doing things that just make you go, “Huh?” – that’s what they’re accomplishing today with the release of their short art film, entitled “Bloom.”

“Bloom” is meant to be a full on experimental project that’s a visual experience, included in their live show and merchandise, too. The band just launched a couple of “Bloom” related merch items in their online store, and as far as the short film goes, the clip was directed by Bobby Hundreds, who founded the men’s apparel company, The Hundreds. The “Bloom” film is two minutes long, but sports a powerful message, as a motorcycle crashes and a throne helmet cracks the pavement. Underneath the pavement blooms flowers, which then entangles the rider as they’re engulfed in flames.

Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz says inspiration behind the project stemmed from moments in his own life that were experiential, and that “Bloom” is meant to empower yourself in a way that shows that falling and failing can make you stronger. It’ll be interesting to see which direction the “Bloom” idea heads in next and whether or not it’ll be implemented somehow in new Fall Out Boy music, which Wentz says is on its way.
