Say what you will about Michael Bay, but the guy earns some serious likability points for this one. The latest behind-the-scenes featurette from the set of Transformers: The Last Knight focuses on an adorable 6-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier cross named Freya, who has been dubbed “Britain’s loneliest dog.” The director read about her in a British tabloid, and decided to give her a part in the film.
Freya has spent her entire life in a shelter, having been passed over for adoption by 18,000 potential owners because she has epilepsy (hold it together now), but the pooch’s luck changed when Bay brought her to the set of his latest Transformers flick, as one of the crew members happened to be on the lookout for a pet dog, and took her home with him.
Freya will share the screen with Sir Anthony Hopkins, who also appears in the video, ready to shoot his scenes in-costume. There was some speculation that the legendary thesp might be playing King Arthur’s father, but unless Uther Pendragon knew a very modern tailor, it looks like he’ll be portraying a different character altogether. That said, we do know that some of the action will take place in medieval England, so perhaps time-travel will factor into Hopkins’ role somehow?
All will be revealed when Transformers: The Last Knight hits theaters on June 23 of next year. In the meantime, you can check out the latest batch of set snaps here.
