Despite being recently delayed to 2018, famed producer Koji Igarashi wanted to waste no time in relaying the news to Bloodstained supporters. To celebrate the agreement, the usual monthly updated was posted ahead of schedule. While this new video is mostly devoted to IGA and 505 Games president Ian Howe discussing the partnership, you can catch a few new seconds of footage from the title as well.

As mentioned, IGA opens up as to why his team needed to find a publisher for Bloodstained in order for it to come out as best as possible.

Although we have started this project through Kickstarter, we wanted more people to play now that we are in full production. However, we believe this isn’t possible with our power alone. We are so grateful that a publisher with a vast marketing power such as 505 Games will be working with our small production team.

One other interesting note that comes out of this update, as well as the recent delay, is that the Wii U version of Bloodstained may potentially be canned. Nintendo fans wouldn’t necessarily be left in the dark, though, as the Metroidvania title would be reworked to release on the NX. In an interview with IGN, IGA explained why this shift could potentially come to pass.

Yeah, it’s a very complicated problem. The reality is this: As timelines move on, certain pieces of hardware become irrelevant. Sometimes new pieces of hardware come out that make you think about what is the right strategy. And as a creator, usually you want to make stuff for the new hardware. That’s the reality.

However, this was a game that was backed by people, and we made promises to listen to them. They’re the people that gave us life so to speak. Any sort of change that we do or are considering that goes outside the scope of the promises we’ve made must be done with lots of explanation, must be done with lots of care, and must be done with lots of back and forth with them to see what options we have. We must listen to them at the end of the day, and we have made promises.

We’ll continue to bring you the latest on Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night as it becomes available, so stay tuned!
