While the New York Comic Con continues, good news has befallen the attendees of one of yesterday’s panels – Ash vs. Evil Dead. It has been confirmed that Starz has issued a series renewal – giving the show a third season of 10 new episodes, expected to be broadcast in the fall of 2017. This announcement comes just days after the second season premiere for the show, which reportedly generated a significant increase in viewership.

Ash vs. Evil Dead sees Bruce Campbell reprise his career-defining role of Ash Williams, from the original Evil Dead trilogy. Set 30 years after the events of those films, the show finds Ash working as a sales clerk in the local ValueShop. There, he’s a womanizing drunk, and accidentally reads aloud the incantation from the Book Of The Dead again – bringing forth demonic forces once more. The show was developed by Sam Raimi, Ivan Raimi, and Tom Spezialy, and co-stars Lucy Lawless, Dana DeLorenzo, Ray Santiago, Ted Raimi, and Lee Majors.

The second season of Ash vs. Evil Dead, which has so far been well received, sees Ash Williams return to his hometown of Elk Grove, where unexpected circumstances necessitate the establishment of an uneasy alliance with Ruby (played by Lucy Lawless). Ruby has proven to be the demon-fighter’s nemesis over the course of the first season, so their teaming up for the greater good promises a great deal of entertainment for the viewing audience.
