New Trailer For Festival Favourite Things To Come

The international film festival circuit is always a reliable indicator of which films we should be paying attention to as they gather momentum for wider releases. Every year, the titles of a small number of films gradually become familiar, until we are yearning to see them in their entirety. This year has seen the film Things To Come rise to the top of many must-see lists, having been very well received at both Telluride and Toronto, and winning the Best Director Silver Bear at Berlin for writer-director Mia Hansen-Love.

But it is lead actress Isabelle Huppert that has everyone talking this year, with her role here as philosophy teacher Nathalie. Far from enjoying a sense of security in her later years, Nathalie finds herself enduring a quick succession of life-altering upsets – from death, to unemployment, to abandonment and rejection – and she has no choice but to navigate her way through these uncharted waters.

This newly released trailer showcases the detailed and sumptuous filmmaking achieved by Hansen-Love and her cast and crew. From the performances, to the framing, to music and production design – this sweeping drama takes an intimate look the life of a woman on the verge of great change, and great freedom.

Things To Come is released on December 2nd, and we can hardly wait any longer to check it out for ourselves.
