Releasing the official figures in a press release, the Japanese publisher confirms that in North America alone, which saw each title launch physically and digitally for $20 a pop, the games have passed more than 1 million units in total with lifetime series sales currently sitting at 69 million.

No breakdown of individual sales performance has been released, but we imagine Resident Evil 4 was probably the most popular of the three with 6 coming in last, what with its less-than-stellar critical reception. While each title is only available digitally outside of North America, Capcom says that retail versions will be coming in December for other territories – good news for those that have a preference for physical media.

Combining the above with the recent HD remasters of the original Resident Evil and Resident Evil 0, never before has there been so many entries in the franchise available on a single platform, and the list is set to keep growing in the near future.

Not only will series reboot Resident Evil 7 be with us come January 2017, but Capcom’s also hard at work on a Resident Evil 2 Remake. That one probably won’t be with us for a while yet, but you can probably expect to hear more once Capcom has wrapped-up development on the former.

Resident Evil 7 launches January 24, 2017 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
